August Event Extravaganza

Friday, August 14th, 2015 0 COMMENTS

What better way to mark the end of summer vacation than to visit Catty Shack Ranch before school starts! The Ranch will be open for Daytime or Night Feedings on ten consecutive days, starting Thursday, August 13th.

Daytime tours will be offered Sunday, August 16th through Thursday, August 20th. Gates open and tours begin at 1:00 PM with last admittance at 3:15 PM. Sunday the 16th is our regular monthly “Enrichment Event” with the animals. Watching them enjoy ‘bloodsicles’ (popsicles for big cats) and play in their pools may make you want to indulge in a sno-cone, cold drink or other refreshment from our concession stand.

Our usual Friday and Saturday Night Feedings occur on August 15th, 21st and 22nd. Gates open and tours begin at 6:00 PM and the feeding starts at 7:30 PM. We encourage you to arrive between 6:00 and 6:30 PM to enjoy the tour and spend time with the animals before the feeding begins. Last admittance is 7:15 PM.

Topaz Receives Chemotherapy

Friday, March 6th, 2015 0 COMMENTS

Unfortunately, one of our Siberians tigers has recently been diagnosed with cancer in her toe. Thankfully, the teams at Southeast Veterinary Oncology and Internal Medicine and Kingsley Animal Hospital are helping us with chemotherapy for her. Although the cancer is terminal, we hope by providing this treatment, Topaz’s quality of life will not only improve, but also extend for at least another year.

After just one treatment, she has already shown an increased appetite and energy. The tumor in her toe has shrunk as well. Click the video below to watch a wonderful video about Topaz from News4Jax!

If you would like to help donate to Topaz’s treatment, you can donate online. Thank you for everyone’s support! #TeamTopaz

Hours for 2015

Sunday, February 8th, 2015 0 COMMENTS

Did you know we have new hours for 2015? You can now join us EVERY FRIDAY and SATURDAY for Night Feedings! Night Feedings are a great time to come out and see the “wild side” of our residents. You haven’t seen anything like it anywhere else! Gates open at 6:00 PM and the last admittance is at 7:15 PM. The feeding begins at 7:30 PM, but we suggest arriving by 6:30 PM to make sure you have enough time for a full guided tour before the feeding.

We’ll also be open EVERY THURSDAY for Daytime Tours. Gates open at 1:00 PM and last admittance is at 3:15 PM. Since our animals are mostly nocturnal, you’ll see the kitties sleeping with their bellies in the air and showing how sweet they can look. (Don’t let that fool you, though!)

Once a month we will be open on one Sunday for DAYTIME TOURS and ENRICHMENTS. Just like other Daytime Tours, gates open at 1:00 PM and last admittance is at 3:15 PM. However, at 3:15 PM our enrichment team will also be giving out fun toys for the cats…they love to wake up and play with their surprises!

Keep an eye on our website for special tour dates, including spring break.
