Since it has been a rainy week for Jacksonville, you’re probably looking for something to do outside of your house. A roller derby event is just the thing you need! It’s a great way to enjoy some time with friends, let go of your cabin fever, and help raise funds for Catty Shack while you’re at it (all funds raised through this event go to help the ranch).

Friday, June 1 is the last day to buy advance tickets to the Roller Derby event through us…just ask to buy some tickets from our cashier when you’re out visiting the ranch for our Friday Night Feeding. If you can’t make it out to visit our cats and get your advanced tickets, you can buy tickets at the door – only $12!

Nollii’s Birthday Recap

Nollii, one of our Arctic Foxes, turned the big “1-0″ on Thursday, May 17! To celebrate, we gave her a special treat (and we couldn’t forget a little treat for Chula, too – we didn’t want her to feel left out!)

You can see Kim, our Assistant Director, giving Nollii and Chula their treats in this video.

If you haven’t come out to visit our Arctic Foxes, we encourage you to do so!

Check out our upcoming tour dates…

Memorial Day Weekend

Thursday, May 24th, 2012 0 COMMENTS

FreddyMemorial Day weekend is coming up and you’re probably looking to do something with your friends and family that doesn’t include the crowded beaches or movie theatres (or maybe you just want of a break from them!)

We think Catty Shack is the perfect way to break up the weekend. Who doesn’t want to spend their weekend with over 40 animals – including our five rambunctious cubs? Come out this weekend to enjoy a visit with all our animals (don’t worry; if you haven’t met them yet, one of our tour guides will be sure to introduce you) and spend some quality time with your family and friends.

And to make the weekend even better, we’re celebrating Freddy’s 7th birthday! That’s right – Freddy, one of our African Lions, is turning seven – and we want you to come celebrate with us. Each day (Saturday, May 26 – Monday, May 28), we will be giving Freddy a birthday cake made of blood, evaporated milk, and ground beef, and presents.

And to top it all off, on Memorial Day – Monday, May 28 – we would like to celebrate our active military and veterans by offering half-off admissions with a military ID. That’s right – that means you can come join us for Freddy’s birthday celebration on May 28 for only $5 with a military ID! One half-off admission per ID, please!

We can’t wait to see you out at the Ranch!

Boy/Girl Scout Troops Work Day

Boy/Girl Scout Group WorkingBoy/Girl Scout Group Work DayBoy/Girl Scout Group WorkingOn Friday, May 4, Boy Scout Troop #181 and Girl Scout Troop #1294 came out to the Ranch to help with a variety of projects. It was quite a productive day, despite the Florida heat; the troops helped with projects such as fencing, new lights in the back area, and painting (including den boxes and fencing). Thank you to Perry Rider and Teresa Fischer for helping coordinate a work day with these two amazing groups – we appreciate all the work they put in for our residents.

If you are interested in bringing out a group to do a “work day” with Catty Shack, please contact us. Work days are ideal for Girl/Boy Scout Troops, corporate volunteer days, community volunteer groups, and any other type of group you can think of. Our group coordinator will discuss age restrictions, available days/times, available projects, and more with you through e-mail.
