Here’s a little peek at our volunteers getting ready for the Haunted Forest…

Barbara Mazzotta, a very talented face painter, travels from Brunswick, Georgia to lend her service to Catty Shack! As you can see from these photos, she paints wonderful images and entertains everyone that gets their face painted by her.

Barbara and her husband, Michael (also a photographer), have come out to the ranch on multiple occasions over the past couple of months. Joining us on certain night feedings, Barbara “transformed” children and adults into creatures that fit right in with our residents!

And to make our Halloween celebration even more special, Letz Face I will be painting faces on the following days of the fundraiser:

Saturday, October 13
Sunday, October 14
Saturday, October 20

For more information, days, and times for our Haunted Forest fundraiser, click here!

If you’re looking to add a face painter to your next group celebration (including birthday parties and other functions of all sizes), make sure to contact Letz Face It!

When visiting Catty Shack, we hope you get a moment to take a look at our “Friends of the Cats” board, highlighting all the businesses that have helped Catty Shack by donating time, services, and/or materials. Please help us in thanking them by using their services whenever applicable. If you have a business and are interested in becoming a “Friend of the Cats” or a corporate sponsor, please contact us.

Volunteer of the Month – September

Friday, September 21st, 2012 2 COMMENTS

Every month, the Catty Shack Board of Directors decide on a Volunteer of the Month to give an extra special “thank you” to. Every one of our volunteers is special to us and we are thankful for all of them – without our volunteers, Catty Shack would not be where are today! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, check out our volunteer page.

The following is a spotlight on this month’s “Volunteer of the Month”. Enjoy!

SharonName: Sharon

When did you start volunteering at Catty Shack? I started volunteering at Catty Shack about 18 years ago.

How did you start volunteering at Catty Shack? My paralegal, Diana, was a volunteer and she got me hooked. She still volunteers there to this day.

What has been your favorite moment(s) at Catty Shack so far? Of all the wonderful experiences I have had, my favorite moment might seem pretty odd. You see, I met Hercules, the white tiger and his two sisters, just after they were born over ten years ago. And I met the two sisters, the black spotted leopards, over 6 years ago when they were born. And I met Freddy, the sweet lion, 7 years ago when he was born! But my favorite moment was they day the new lion enclosure was finished. I spent that entire Saturday crawling around on my hands and knees and found over ten big knarly nails and screws the workers had dropped on the ground that would have surely ended up in the paws of Tal and Nyra! That day I felt of use! That was my favorite day! Picking a single favorite moment is just not possible. I love all the animals but must confess that the tigers are my favorites. Being able to work in such close proximity to these amazing animals just makes everything right with my world. I have always considered myself a “cat” woman and this experience has just added an unbelievable dimension to that part of me.

Thanks, Sharon, for everything you do at Catty Shack!

Cubs Sleeping The November Roar N’ Snore registration is NOW OPEN! This bi-annual event has a limited number of campsites available, so register for your spot now!

This one-of-a-kind event allows families and friends to camp outside next to our residents. Tickets prices include your campsite (please bring your own camping equipment), dinner, a night feeding of the animals, s’mores around the bonfire, and breakfast in the morning.

Check out the recap of the last Roar N’ Snore here.
