Night Feeding Frenzy!

Monday, July 16th, 2012 0 COMMENTS

Our Night Feedings on Fridays and Saturdays have quickly become a fan favorite! At these events, visitors get to see our animals receive their nightly meal up-close – and it’s always an exciting time! Our next night feeding is this Saturday, July 21,  for the Cub’s “Housewarming” Party. Besides the feeding, there will be plenty to do: we’ll have sno cones, drinks, and snacks for sale along with a face painter! Or, check our hours of operation to find another time to come visit our residents!

Here’s a little sneak-peek of Catty Shack from last Friday night. The following picture is a group of our volunteers:

And here’s a peek at some of our visitors getting ready for the feeding!

Target & Carmax Work Days

Saturday, July 14th, 2012 0 COMMENTS

The end of June was a busy one for the Catty Shack Wildlife Sanctuary…besides all of our day-to-day activities (cleaning, resident enrichment, school tours, and more), we also had two more work days. The first work day brought a volunteer group from Carmax, which worked with us even through the rain! The next work day included workers from the Target on San Jose. These dedicated workers spent their Friday painting cougar enclosures. Thank you to both groups! Your help has made a tremendous impact for our animals, visitors, and volunteers.

As always, if you or someone you know is interested in a volunteer day with Catty Shack, please contact us.

Fence Work

On June 16, we had a very busy Saturday work day! Jason Almodovar brought out Patrol Squadron 45 Pelicans from NAS and Catherine Swanson brought out Boy Scout Troop 136.

Thanks to these great groups, we got a lot done at the ranch – including: painting, weeding, organizing our tool shed, and working on new fencing.

We are so lucky to have people like these who are willing to give up their time to help make our sanctuary an even better place for our cats.

As always, if you are interested in setting up a work day for your group, please contact us.

Cubs’ Kitty Kabin Finished!

Cubs' Kitty Kabin Thanks to Community First Credit Union (we won a $1,000 grant from them), Tony, Richard, and all the other volunteers who worked hard to make this happen, our baby girls now have their Kitty Kabin built! It’s only been up a little over two weeks now, but the girls have already made it their own.

If you haven’t seen them recently, come visit Nikki, Jade, Cayenne, Misha, and Amara! They are out for public viewing at all our public events. Also, keep an ear out for our housewarming party later this month!
